Operators say Schlitterbahn Galveston Island is the world’s first convertible waterpark.
The award-winning Bavarian-styled park features Wasserfest, a 70,000-square-foot, climate-controlled, indoor waterpark space that opens to the outdoors during summer months via a state-of-the-art convertible roof.
Wasserfest includes more than a dozen heated attractions, such as three kids’ activity areas, several slides, a hot tub and the Torrent tidal wave river.
Other sections of the park, located completely outdoors, are open seasonally and feature a full mix of water slides and pools. The park features guest-friendly RFID technology and free Wi-Fi access, and much of it is connected via Schlitterbahn’s signature “transportainment” lazy river system.
