Visitors to Dream Island waterpark are transported into a Jurassic-themed “lost world” that’s a dream come true for aquatics aficionados.
Located inside a Kiev shopping mall, the Ukraine’s largest indoor waterpark covers approximately 270,000 square feet and has a capacity for about 3,500 people.
Amenities include 14 water slides, five themed pools, saunas and a children’s play area. Jurassic theming throughout the park includes prehistoric animals and wild plants.
Dream Island opened in July 2011 and development was not without challenges, architect Sila Gokalp says.
“Due to the existing rectangular shape of the building, all the water slides had to start above the building and enter through the roof,” notes Gokalp of Turkish design firm Polin. “The new water slides were designed using the existing building supports, and in the end everyone was happy!”
