Aquatics, pool and spa professionals now may register for the World Aquatic Health Conference, taking place Oct. 10-12 in Charleston, S.C.

Six satellite events, called WAHCity broadcasts, will take place in six cities throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The main event generally includes more than 400 aquatics specialists from a range of disciplines, including pool operators, service technicians, aquatics managers, environmental health officials, academics, pool builders, designers and engineers, health professionals and aquatic therapists. The event will include more than 40 seminars, with topics including advanced service concepts, design and engineering, facility management and design, and improving water and air quality.

Keynote speakers will include Eadric Bressel, Ph.D., a kinesiology specialist at Utah State University, who conducts research on the health benefits of water. Genesis faculty member Feras Irikat, director of design and marketing for Lunada Bay Tile, will share his knowledge of color theory and color psychology.

Attendees of the WAHCity events will see "Elements of WAHC," a track of eight of the sessions touching on core topics, with some drawn from popular presentations from previous conferences. Subjects will include drowning prevention, improving water and air quality, preventing biofilms, filtration science and facility management. Networking opportunities will take place, as well as a behind-the-scenes tour of the Great Wolf Lodge. These will take place in Boston; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Dallas; Los Angeles; Minneapolis; and Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Each satellite event will be held at a local Great Wolf Lodge waterpark, which will offer special rates for attendees.

Those wishing to attend in Charleston can receive the steepest discount by registering before May 31, at which time the rate is $445, for a saving of $150. Those who sign up between June 1 and July 31 will pay $495. After that, registration costs $595. WAHCity events also come at tiered rates that follow the same dates, with registration costing $225, then $250, then finally $300.
