ROCKIN’ AND RESORTIN’

The operators of this hotel sought to expand the selection of aquatics amenities with a multi-feature resort pool area for grownups. This would complement the existing pools, which were tailored to children and families.

The new adult playground includes multiple pools to accommodate upscale lounging, entertainment and other activities. The main pool, adjacent to the hotel’s trademark guitar tower, features rental cabanas and a stage for performances. The VIP pool brings the water directly to first-floor suites, where guests can step outside and onto their own sunshelf. The Bora Bora section includes fully equipped, rental bungalows that appear to float on the water. Boardwalks provide access. A series of waterfalls connect this area with the main pool deck.

The 2.4-acre recreation lake, set at the outer perimeter of the watery network, features a sandy beach and provides space for kayaking, paddle boarding and other surface craft activities. Well water supplements municipal water in the lake, and a disc filtration technology handles the roughly 4 million gallons, the first application of its kind in the U.S. The 8-foot-deep lake was built using a concrete shell and reinforced polyethylene liner. The concrete covers the first 4 to 5 feet of depth, then the liner sits over earth at the lower depths. This system kept the feature within budget.

Tropical styling imparts a tranquil, natural vibe by day. All is brought to life at night with special lighting to enhance special events. Some of the cabanas were fashioned after traditional Seminole thatched-roof chickees as a tribute to the local tribe.
