The Beach Waterpark knows its audience. Specifically, it’s primarily women 25 to 44 years who have two or more children ages 1 to 12 years, at least some college-level education and a household income of approximately $50,000.

So what do these women want?

The park’s answer: Mom Day Mondays in which local business partners, including Cincinnati Academy (a Paul Mitchell Partner School), Center for Chiropractic Orthopedics and Dillards West Towne Center, offer free haircuts, manicures, massages and swimsuit fashion shows for visiting moms.

Of course, these moms want entertainment for the kids, too. And The Beach comes through again with more than 50 water rides and attractions.

It also offers kid-friendly programs. One of the most popular is Dive-In Movies at The Kahuna Beach Wavepool. For Kool Kid Fridays, children 48 inches tall and under get in for a reduced price, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., they’re treated to games, prizes and safety presentations.

To keep guests coming back for more, especially in tough economic times, The Beach employs an extensive marketing plan that includes radio, television, outdoor, online and print ads, as well as social media (Facebook and Twitter).

As part of the marketing program, The Beach’s marketing interns and even the mascot visit festivals, parades, malls and business events to distribute brochures and coupons.

Best Practices

The Beach Waterpark starts recruiting its seasonal staff of more than 500 early, with two highly publicized job fairs in April. Lead staff members and interns must attend a Supervisor Seminar held during the first week of May.

The following weekend, all employees attend a mandatory all-day business operation orientation, followed by another mandatory in-park dry run day.
