LifeCenter Plus was opened to serve the health and fitness needs of the local community, but it has become much more. A well-trained, talented staff provides a mix of programs and services that have made the Hudson, Ohio-based fitness center the aquatics authority in the region.
Programs include synchronized swimming, water aerobics, lap swimming, swim lessons and a swim team. Special events include an annual cardboard boat race.
Managers pay special attention to maximize use of the entire facility, which includes an indoor 25-meter, six-lane multipurpose pool; an indoor warm-water therapy pool with a resistance river; and three indoor spas. An outdoor aquatics complex features another 25-meter pool with several water slides; a zero-depth pool with spray features and a round, 1-foot-deep wading pool.
With minor modifications of lane lines, ropes and floats, the staff can meet the needs of young and old alike. Regardless of the need or request, this facility finds a way to flex its schedule and adapt programming to accommodate patrons.
By hiring “home-grown” talent, LifeCenter ensures that guests will be treated with top-notch customer service.
Training also is key: The facility trains lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors (WSI) for pools all over the community. Operators also have trained more than 40 WSIs in adaptive training workshops, enabling them to work with special-needs patrons around the region.
Watching a guest’s dreams come true is a true testament to the quality of the staff. For example, a group of women, ages 50 to 83, started practicing synchronized swimming at LifeCenter for exercise. But thanks to the encouragement and support from facility employees, the women have improved their skills so much that they now make their own costumes and perform multiple synchronized swimming shows annually.
