The Consumer Product Safety Commission is now accepting grant applications to promote government safety instruction and enforcement.

The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act directed the CPSC to provide grants to those state and local governments seeking to enact legislation, codes and awareness programs meant to bolster swimming pool safety in the area. In the past, such funds have been provided to help areas increase inspections and otherwise enforce pool-safety laws, train aquatics staff, and to implement learn-to-swim and safety awareness programs.

This year, the agency can award up to $2 million in two-year grants. Applications will be accepted through June 5, 2019.

Government entities interested in applying for the grants can learn more from the full grant announcement.
