History is being made in Kazan, Russia this summer. Bill May, 36, and Christina Jones, 27, of the USA won gold medals in mixed duet technical synchronized swimming at the 16th FINA World Championships on July 26, 2015. They beat out two other male/female duos -- one from Russia and one from Italy. And May is favored to win another gold before the world championships are over.

The mixed duet is brand-new for the world championships, and is a key step to getting male synchronized swimming into the Olympics.

For Bill May, the duet synchronized swimming competition at the Kazan world championships is a dream come true. In the past, he was a 14-time U.S. national champion, and a silver medalist in duet at the 1998 Goodwill Games. Since then, he’s stayed in shape as a performer in Cirque du Soleil’s “O” aquatic show at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. Read More
