The United States Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championships will take place in Hermosa Beach, Calif., August 10-13.
The event is expected to draw more than 1,000 participants, including professional lifeguards (ages 16-80) and junior lifeguards (ages 9-15) who will compete for individual and team honors.
The schedule of open-water and beach course events includes beach runs, rescue races, swim relays, and Ironwoman/Ironman competitions.
“The USLA is proud to bring together the cream of the crop in lifesaving for what promises to be an exciting National Championship event in Hermosa Beach,” said Ed Zebrowski, Lifesaving Sport Chair for the USLA. “These lifeguards are dedicated in their training, not just for the competition but to also be able to protect and serve their fellow beach-goers.”
The event will be livestreamed at www.usla.org, and participants can register online until August 13, 2016.
