In this third and final installment examining swimming kicks, we’re looking at the benefits of using the eggbeater to tow a victim.
This is a strong kick, allowing the guard to remain in a near vertical position, providing more stability.
As with the inverted breast stroke seen in Part 2, there are three main things the trainer should focus on. As AI’s resident lifeguard expert, Pete DeQuincy, explains in the video above, you’ll want to keep an eye on the guard’s kicking style, grip on the victim and the victim’s position.
As you’ll see in the video, proper placement of the rescue tube is vital to keep the victim horizontal.
