The International Lifeguard Critical Incident Response Alliance has launched the first survey of its kind, in efforts to support its mission of providing help to aquatics professionals manage the impacts of exposure to a critical incident.

The organization is calling for as many aquatics professionals as possible to respond. In addition, those who have taken it may need to do so again, as much of the data has been lost because of incomplete surveys. Please read the notice below from ILCIRA:

The Forgotten First Responder Has a Voice. Use It.

For decades, aquatic professionals have responded to some of the most demanding critical incidents in emergency services — with little formal psychological support and almost no research documenting their experience.

ILCIRA and the Center for the Advancement of Military and Emergency Services Research at Kennesaw State University are conducting the first international study of its kind: examining how often aquatic professionals encounter critical incidents, how those incidents affect their health and work, and what support resources exist at the facility level.

This research is the foundation for change. But only if we have the data.

Survey closes August 31. Anonymous. 20 minutes.

Available in six languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Arabic.

Complete every page, including the consent form — responses without a completed consent form cannot be included in the data.
