The team designed this municipal splash pad to foster physical activity, community connection, and appeal to children’s sense of exploration.
The spraypad is designed for people of all ages and abilities, with some play features meant to accommodate a range of physical abilities and comfort levels. Gentler sprays provide a space that feels safe yet engaging to small children, while heavier flows appeal to older users. Spray jets, tipping elements, and dynamic play structures appeal to different preferences and interests.
The layout is organized into distinct yet interconnected zones. A central interactive area, anchored by a large Speedracer Titan and dumping buckets, serves as a visual landmark, helping orient visitors. Secondary play zones radiate outward, with spray cannons, arches, and ground sprays to promote exploration across different volumes and textures of water. With this strategy, high-activity spray elements draw attention and create excitement, while the lower-intensity elements are scattered to reduce congestion and provide space for smaller or less steady users.

The team included plenty of deck as well as a concession stand for those on a swimming break. The bathhouse was completely renovated to maximize usage.
The original pool sat on a flat area on the side of a hill, so the team had to take site drainage, soil, and subsurface remediation below the new pools seriously. Following the site’s elevation changes, the designers developed a series of retaining walls that created an amphitheater effect, with tiered lawn areas for guests.
The long, sweeping arc of the beach-entry pool recalls the geometry of the original pool.
