Aquatics facilities and organizations interested in promoting water safety have until Oct. 1 to apply for this quarter’s round of grants for free life jackets and swim lessons.
Four times a year, the Association of Aquatic Professionals provides funds to organizations wishing to promote safety via free swim lessons and life jackets. AOAP allocates $5,000 a year for life jackets and the same amount for swim lessons, with the goal of funding at least 100 free lessons to underprivileged children under 12 and 200 life jackets for organizations to use in water-safety efforts. Facilities or organizations are awarded a maximum of $500.
To qualify, applicants must hold current membership to AOAP for at least one year. Those interested can consult AOAP's information page for more information and instructions to apply.
