The June Summer Lifeguard Challenge brought several past champion teams (Town of Davie, 2017 winner; City of Chandler, 2016 winner) and forced last year’s champion, City of Temecula, to defend their crown.
The Blue team from Temecula, Calif. stepped up and captured first in the June challenge. Watch their winning entry:
Town of Davie, Fla. tied with the Town of Breckenridge, Colo. team for second.
Team Purple and Gold from Temecula secured a three-way tie with City of Bloomington, Ind.’s Mills Blue team, while Arizona’s City of Chandler teams, Mesquite Grove and Nozomi, participated strong and placed fourth and fifth.
Some of the difficulties that rescue teams encountered were sealing the mask effectively while in the water and not allowing the one-way valve on the rescue mask to completely submerge underwater in between ventilations.
Here are the overall team results:
1. City of Temecula, CA. Blue Team
2. Town of Breckenridge, CO.
2. Town of Davie, FL.
